What is Colonics-
Colon Hydrotherapy?
Colonics are most effective when done in series and in close proximity:
ideally 2-3 times per week for a short duration, though once per week also works well if on a cleanse protocol that is using dietary restrictions and supplements for support.
The number in a series is individually assessed on information gathered during the first few visits. Timing is important and relative to how and why to use colonics.
Colonics may be used to prepare an individual for surgery, or to assist in a cleansing regimen. Many people use colonics to offer relief and an opportunity to heal from a period poor dietary choices. Our bowels can become overburdened with accumulations from overeating, drug/alcohol use, stress, or lethargy. The colon is the body's sewage system and sometimes the plumbing get overloaded, or clogged (constipation).
Neglecting or abusing the colon results in fermentation and putrefaction of fecal matter. This leads to autointoxication, meaning things that should have left the body long ago are still hanging around and now get re-absorbed through the colon walls directly into the blood stream.
The widespread use of pesticides, antibiotics, hormones, additives, and irradiation in our foods add another layer of toxins to the mix. Add to that the exposures we have at home and work. Clinging to carpet fibers could be any of the 75,000 synthetic chemicals developed and released into the environment since World War II. Nearly 90% of all households use pesticides. We have chlorinated water, cleaning solvents, endocrine disruptors in plastics... Colon hydrotherapy prompts the body to release toxins stored in our tissues.
Colonics are very useful in detoxification and treating constipation because the colon expels what no longer serves us in the body.
Colonics are also useful in weight loss because the body uses fat to dilute the toxins and keep them from being stored in the more important organs. Colonics instigate the body’s own cleansing process.
Colonics are a growing alternative to the harsh chemicals used when preparing for a colonoscopy, the investigtive procedure that inserts a camera to examine the large intestine.
We use infusions (probiotics, coffee, chlorophyll, wheatgrass, glutamine) to prompt a cleansing of the gall bladder, to repopulate the intestine with good flora, and to relieve constipation. Herbs such as Ashwaghandha root and Slippery Elm are used to condition and soften while stimulating peristaltic action. Fusing an herbal concoction with the Colon Hydrotherapy is our unique method!
The process is simple and comfortable. Purified water is introduced into the colon via a disposable speculum, a section of sturdy tubing that creates a seal so everything stays nice and tidy during the session. To the outside end of the speculum, we attach flexible tubing that connects to the machine. Again, all secure and tidy. We will gently put water in, and out comes what your body is ready to release. Depending upon the person, we fill and empty several times during a session. Your dignity is always maintained. You are always in control. The water flows in slowly, and when you've had enough, we instantly let it drain out.
We use a closed system offering a pleasant treatment with no odor, no open lines of water or waste. The water is warm, about 100 degrees, close to body temperature. Seventy percent of the world's colon therapists work with closed systems. Two-thirds of these are Dotolo devices, used in more than 25 countries around the world.
Light abdominal palpation dislodges wastes, mucus, and fecal encrustation. These are gently eliminated through the waste tube. Repeated gentle fills and releases are administered during a session which lasts approximately 45 minutes.
